Luna Innovations in Chino, CA is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our software team for photonics instrumentation. You will build applications that control precision optical instruments, process high‑speed data, and visualize complex optical behavior in real time on Linux, Windows, and embedded Linux devices.

You will design software architecture, implement APIs and SDKs, and collaborate with optical, electrical, firmware, and systems engineers to bring new products to market.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE or related field required.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining software on Linux.
• Experience with multithreading, memory management, and performance optimization.
• Experience with Git/GitHub workflows and code reviews.
• Familiarity with software build systems, debugging tools, unit testing and validation.
• Strong analytical troubleshooting and cross-domain collaboration.
• Effective technical communication and documentation; Agile mindset.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop, and maintain reliable C/C++ and Python applications for Linux and Windows, including GUIs.
• Design modular software components and interfaces for hardware-integrated products; evaluate trade-offs.
• Develop and integrate software on embedded Linux platforms, including cross-compilation.
• Improve build and release processes, automated testing, packaging, deployment, and Linux updates.
• Develop and support APIs, SDKs, and remote control interfaces for instrument integration.
• Apply code review, testing, debugging, validation, versioning, and documentation practices.
• Collaborate with optical, electrical, firmware, and systems engineers and other teams to bring products to market.
