Job summary

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA‑EMS) is seeking a Software Developer for the Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) Software Engineering group. The role involves planning, coordinating, developing and testing software for government contracts and IR&D activities, with responsibility for design, documentation, testing and deployment across enterprise applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in computer science, information systems or related discipline with long‑term software development experience.
• Extensive expertise in software development concepts, principles and theory; strong programming and analysis skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and apply concepts in evolving environments.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; capable of leadership and interfacing with multiple departments.
• Customer‑focused, proactive design approach for solving advanced software problems.
• Ability to work independently or in a team; travel may be required.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Determine technical objectives for user requirements and plan enterprise software development across end‑user, system level, data management and embedded applications.
• Formulate plans and guide development and implementation of software solutions including language, platform, resources, testing and documentation.
• Plan deployment of enterprise applications with cross‑platform compliance and maintain enterprise solutions through debugging and updates.
• Communicate with domain experts, users and management throughout the software lifecycle and represent the organization as a prime technical contact.
• Plan for future applications based on new computer technologies and may lead projects or teams.
