Job summary

The Voleon Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Developer Experience team within Software Platform. You will design and evolve the core development platform enabling engineers to build, test, deploy, and maintain software quickly and reliably across the company.

You will collaborate with application engineering, infrastructure, security, and ML research teams to reduce friction, standardize workflows, and modernize tooling, focusing on automation and scalability to empower

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level CS or Engineering degree, or equivalent experience.
• Proven track record in software design and implementation focusing on correctness, robustness, efficiency, and scale.
• Experience with modern languages such as Python, Go, Java or C++.
• Hands-on Linux/UNIX development experience.
• Experience with build systems and monorepos (Bazel, Buck, or similar).
• Experience with CI/CD systems, test infrastructure, and deployment automation.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and deployment technologies.
• Ability to work with large codebases and build modular, maintainable software.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex ideas clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design and improve the build -> test -> deploy pipeline to be fast, reliable, and automated by default.
• Evolve build-system tooling to meet growing engineering needs.
• Reduce build, test, and deployment latency and fix flaky tests.
• Build and standardize automated deployment pipelines across environments.
• Lead modernization efforts including language, framework, and dependency upgrades.
• Provide visibility into dependency age and technical risk.
• Expand support for AI-assisted development workflows.
• Lead complex projects from start to finish and communicate with collaborators.
• Provide technical guidance to engineering and research staff.
• Mentor and grow individual contributors.
