Job summary

Thumbtack is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Developer Experience team, working on AI-powered developer workflows, CDEs, and internal platforms serving a 250+ engineer organization. You’ll roll out Claude Code, Codex and Cursor integrations, design self-service surfaces, and help scale MCP servers and internal CLIs.

We value a strong systems thinker with a UX mindset, fluent in Go and Python for CLIs/services, and TypeScript/React for web UIs.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience building developer infrastructure, DevEx, or platform tools at 100+ engineers.
• Strong systems thinking about pipelines, CI/CD, and dev environments.
• UX mindset for engineering systems with end-to-end workflows.

Responsibilities

• Build the platforms behind agentic developer workflows and ship skills and MCP servers.
• Design surfaces engineers and AI agents reach for daily (Backstage, CLI, IDE integrations).
• Own and evolve the Cloud Development Environment platform for humans and AI agents.
• Improve build systems, CI/CD, tests, and observability across the org.
• Prototype and evaluate new AI developer tools and decide adoption and scaling.
