Job summary

Klaviyo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its Developer Infrastructure team to shape the backend platform roadmap, manage dependencies, and drive platform upgrades that improve velocity and reliability. You will contribute hands‑on across Python, Go, and Go services, while advancing AI tooling to reduce toil and accelerate delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong computer science fundamentals.
• Focus on clean, maintainable, well‑architected code.
• Comfort reasoning about distributed systems, dependency graphs, and the downstream impact of platform‑level decisions.
• Ability to work across the stack, such as debugging Python integrations, optimizing Go services, or building infrastructure automation.
• Experience or interest in applying AI to engineering work.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, optimize, and secure backend and third‑party dependencies, and build frameworks to evaluate risk and keep the dependency graph healthy and maintainable.
• Lead the planning and execution of major platform upgrades and releases, from design through production rollout, with hands‑on contribution throughout.
• Improve key cycle time metrics, including PR CI speed, code review turnaround, and commit velocity.
• Contribute to engineering standards for code quality, dependency hygiene, and platform reliability.
• Lead efforts to use AI in the platform lifecycle and use AI tooling to accelerate your own development work.
• Partner with engineers, security teams, and stakeholders to gather requirements, resolve conflicts, and roll out platform changes.
• Monitor platform health and reliability, and resolve complex issues before they become critical incidents.

Job description

Klaviyo’s Developer Infrastructure team helps engineers ship code efficiently and safely. They own the build systems, dependency lifecycle, and platform infrastructure behind every engineer’s daily workflow. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help define and execute the technical roadmap for the backend platform, from dependency management and major framework upgrades to developer productivity tools that reduce toil and accelerate velocity.
