Job summary

Atlas seeks a Senior Software Engineer (Data Science Focus) in San Francisco to shape the underwriting strategy for our credit products. You will own the data-driven underwriting from both engineering and data perspectives, partnering with product and engineering to drive impact.

This role blends hands-on analytics, experimentation, and mentoring, with a hybrid schedule (2 days/week in SF) and the opportunity to influence a growing fintech platform.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional Data Science / Software engineering experience with a strong technological aptitude.
• Ownership mindset with a focus on fast-paced, impactful work.
• Proven to effectively collaborate across variety of technical and non-technical functions to drive towards common product goals.
• Proficiency in quantitative analysis geared towards drawing actionable insights from complex datasets.
• Experience with data querying languages and scripting languages (e.g. Python).
• Previous experience mentoring, such as new-hire buddies, interns, or technical leads.
• Interest in contributing to the company's growth beyond daily responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Atlas' underwriting processes
• Applying expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how Atlas users interact with our products
• Partner with Product and Engineering teams to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities
• Design, plan, execute and analyze experiments to evaluate the impact of product changes.
• Mentor others as needed to uplift the team's capacity, and to democratize data knowledge and data insights within the company.
