Job summary

Genius Sports Group seeks a Software Engineer III to lead the design and delivery of robust data platforms and backend services. You will influence architectural direction and collaborate across data engineers, PMs, and stakeholders to define scalable patterns and APIs.

You will balance short-term delivery with long-term health, champion best practices, and mentor engineers while contributing to an Agile, data-driven engineering culture. Hybrid work and travel may be involved.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency with multiple programming languages (Rust, Kotlin, TypeScript).
• Experience with architectural patterns and building scalable systems.
• Proven ability to solve complex problems and make sound technical decisions in ambiguous situations.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and mentor others.
• Fluency with agentic frameworks and AI-driven software development workflows.
• Experience working with containers and cloud-native environments.
• Experience working with Large Data.
• Experience working with Distributed Systems.
• TDD and Spec Driven Development
• Experience with AdTech solutions applied to SSPs and DSPs

Responsibilities

• Contribute the design, development, and evolution of robust data platforms and backend systems and services.
• Grow into a technical authority within and across teams, influencing architectural decisions and setting engineering standards.
• Collaborate with data engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define system boundaries, APIs, processes, and long-term technical direction.
• Drive improvements in performance, scalability, reliability, and operability across critical systems.
• Design and implement efficient, resilient data storage and data access patterns.
• Write high-quality, maintainable code and advocate for best practices in code quality, testing, and documentation.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production issues, including root-cause analysis.
• Champion continuous improvement by evaluating new technologies and approaches with clear value.
• Grow into a mentor and coach engineers across teams, supporting technical growth.
