Job summary

Goldman Sachs is seeking an Associate Software Engineer for the Core Data Architecture Engineering team in New York. You will join a global group of engineers to build scalable data platforms, optimize performance, and deliver high-profile applications with modern technologies like Java, Python, Spark, and cloud services.

Responsibilities include collaboration with multiple teams, front-end UI support, and mentorship of juniors through the SDLC in a fast-paced finance environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 3-5 years’ experience in a large investment or retail bank, or a comparable financial institution.
• Experience in software development, including data structures, algorithms, software design and core programming concepts.
• Comfortable multi-tasking, managing multiple stakeholders and working as part of a team.
• Comfortable with multiple programming languages, including learning proprietary software coding when required.
• Technologies: Scala, Java, Python, Spark, Linux and shell scripting, TDD (JUnit), build tools (Maven/Gradle/Ant), AWS deployment stack.
• Experience with relational/object databases.
• Familiar with GS proprietary tech like Slang/SECDB.
• Understanding of compute resources and performance metrics.

Responsibilities

• Deliver robust software across a broad range of applications in a global data platform.
• Collaborate with engineering and business teams to drive high-profile projects.
• Tune performance to optimize memory and CPU usage.
• Act as SME to promote use of the firm’s Data Platform capabilities across domains.
• Contribute to front-end development for internal UI needs.
• Develop batch and streaming data validation and enrichment processes.
• Oversee junior engineers through SDLC including design reviews and migrations.
