Roku is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer to join the Content Platform backend and data team in California. The role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing distributed data pipelines, real-time processing, and robust backend solutions for large-scale data.

Deep expertise in Java, distributed systems, and big data is required. The role emphasizes building scalable systems using Spark, Kafka, and Flink, and leveraging Spring Boot for backend development.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend development and distributed data processing experience.
• Proven expertise in designing and building scalable systems with Java.
• Hands-on experience with Spark, Kafka, and Flink.
• Proficiency with Java frameworks such as Spring/Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with containers and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs using Java and Akka.
• Build distributed data pipelines for batch and real-time data processing.
• Design efficient, scalable systems to process large volumes of data.
• Leverage big data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, and Flink to build pipelines.
• Work on data transformation, ingestion, and integration for structured and unstructured data.
• Implement data lake and data warehouse integrations.
• Develop and maintain real-time data processing applications to support business-critical use cases.
