Job summary

Roku in New York is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Advertising Platform to design, build, and scale real-time advertising systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance features that power the Roku Channel and ad business.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in large-scale distributed systems, strong Java or C++ skills, and a passion for ownership, mentorship, and delivering quality software at pace in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience building large-scale and low-latency distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in Java or C++.
• Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, performance optimization, OOP, multi-threading, and real-time programming.
• Experience with distributed caching and databases (SQL/NoSQL).
• Experience with Big Data and cloud services such as AWS or GCP.
• Advertising domain experience is a plus.
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• Self-motivated with accountability and ownership.
• Critical thinking and practical decision-making.
• Can-do, results-oriented mindset.
• Team-oriented and collaborative.
• AI literacy and curiosity.

• Design, develop, and maintain large-scale, real-time applications with a highly performing focus.
