Job summary

Affirm is seeking an experienced backend engineer to help build the high-availability, high-throughput card loan platform. You’ll design APIs, model data, and own the critical path for every swipe, partnering with product, data science, and engineering teams.

You bring 5+ years in software development, strong system-design skills, and proficiency with Python or Kotlin, cloud platforms, Docker and Kubernetes. This remote-first role offers a generous compensation package.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and development of large-scale, high-availability services.
• Build robust APIs and data models for microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Collaborate with Product, Analytics, Design, Legal and Accounting to align requirements.
• Analyze performance and optimize code for long-term robustness and scalability.
• Mentor junior engineers and champion best practices through code reviews.
