Job summary

Mastercard seeks a Senior Software Engineer to own the full software lifecycle, from architecture to production operations. You will design scalable, secure cloud-native systems, and guide API, event-driven, and microservice patterns.

Candidates should be fluent in Python/TypeScript, with strong Java experience and familiarity with Angular/React. You will mentor peers, improve performance, and drive secure coding practices across CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Proficiency and hands-on experience building agentic frameworks in Python/TypeScript.
• Strong experience with modern web stacks, including Angular and React, along with JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js / Java microservices.
• Proven experience with backend development with JAVA required.
• Familiarity with Spring Boot frameworks preferred.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization techniques.
• Hands-on experience building and operating cloud-native systems (AWS/Azure), including APIs, event-driven services, and distributed data stores.
• Proven expertise in secure coding practices and use of static and dynamic security analysis tools.
• Strong experience with Git-based workflows, branching strategies, and leading effective peer code reviews.
• Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and maintain unit, service, and integration tests.
• Experience analyzing and troubleshooting issues across applications and systems, including production environments.
• Deep understanding of modern SDLC methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and when to apply them.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and containerized deployments.
• Familiarity with observability tools and operational best practices for mission-critical systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience is preferred.

• Act as a technical owner across the full software lifecycle from architecture to production operations.
• Design and evolve scalable, secure software solutions and API patterns.
• Lead and participate in code reviews to maintain high standards.
• Coach peers and mentor team members.
• Proactively analyze and optimize performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Define testing strategies and promote test automation and quality gates.
• Take ownership of production health, incident diagnosis, and preventive improvements.
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Site Reliability, and Security teams.
