Job summary

Cardinal Health seeks a Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead to provide technical leadership for complex enterprise apps, APIs, and cloud-native platforms. You will partner with Product, Architecture, Security, and Delivery teams to ensure successful execution of business objectives.

Responsibilities include end-to-end delivery, architecture guidance, and mentoring; the role drives modern engineering practices, security, and observability across multiple streams.

Qualifications

• 8-12 years of experience, preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices Architecture, React and/or Angular.
• Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform (preferred).
• Strong experience with Kubernetes (GKE preferred), Cloud-native development, container orchestration, IaC.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines: GitHub Actions, Concourse, ArgoCD, Terraform.
• Hands-on experience with API Management and integration platforms such as Apigee.
• Understanding of OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT, API Security and auth models.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, BigQuery, relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience using OpenAPI/Swagger, API lifecycle management, automated testing, observability.
• Experience in regulated environments (healthcare, pharmacy, financial services).
• Understanding HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST, SSDLC, risk/compliance controls.
• Experience leading cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
• Experience building enterprise integration platforms and API ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, implementation, and support of enterprise apps and APIs.
• Own end-to-end technical delivery across multiple workstreams for scalability and security.
• Define architecture, standards, design patterns, and best practices.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions and guide teams.
• Lead technical planning, estimation, and architecture reviews.
• Drive design decisions balancing objectives, debt, and cost.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and partners.
• Serve as escalation point for complex technical challenges and incidents.
• Lead RCAs and implement preventive measures for reliability.
• Review designs, code, infra, and deployment strategies for quality.
• Promote DevSecOps, CI/CD, IaC, automated testing, and observability.
• Collaborate with EA, Security, Risk and Compliance teams on secure solutions.
• Evaluate emerging tech and propose innovative, productive solutions.
• Design integration solutions across platforms using APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Provide end-to-end oversight across app/integration/data/security/infra domains.
• Set technical roadmaps and modernization opportunities.
• Ensure ops excellence: monitoring, alerting, HA/DR, performance, supportability.
• Influence strategy and engineering direction across products.
• Lead conversations with stakeholders, vendors, and leadership.
• Define milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, mitigations.
