Job summary
Expedition Technology designs, develops, and delivers advanced C4ISR solutions for defense and intelligence communities, headquartered in Northern Virginia. This role focuses on building scalable software, leading architectural decisions, and delivering cloud-native applications with strong observability and security considerations.
The ideal candidate has 8+ years of software engineering experience, TS/SCI clearance, a CS/Engineering degree, and hands-on leadership across distributed systems
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required to satisfy clearance requirements.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Expertise in modern programming languages and quickly adopting new stacks.
- Strong fundamentals in software engineering irrespective of language/framework.
- Experience designing and delivering production software systems.
- Strong background in software architecture, system integration, and distributed systems.
- Experience building, deploying, and supporting containerized applications.
- Experience deploying and operating in Kubernetes environments.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, tracing, and observability.
- Experience operating within AWS cloud environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and technical leadership skills.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable software systems using Python and modern engineering practices.
- Lead architectural decisions across application, deployment, infrastructure, and operational domains.
- Design systems with maintainability, security, resiliency, scalability, and observability as first-class concerns.
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation workflows.
- Design, deploy, and support cloud-native applications in containerized and Kubernetes environments.
- Establish and champion engineering best practices around testing, automation, monitoring, reliability, and software quality.
- Collaborate with engineers, platform teams, and stakeholders to deliver complete solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across development, deployment, and production environments.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across projects and teams.
- Contribute to verification, validation, testing, and evaluation environments supporting mission needs.
