Job summary

Principal Financial Group seeks a Sr. Software Engineer I to join the Workplace Benefits Fulfillment Customer Experience / Claims Intake team.

You will develop customer-facing web apps and modernize claims operations using next-gen platforms, focusing on high-quality, scalable code in an agile environment. The role requires 6+ years of software development, expertise in React/Next.js, serverless architectures, and an AWS-focused toolkit with CDK/CloudFormation.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience designing, developing, and coding applications.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code development using AWS CDK and/or CloudFormation.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript, Java, and SQL.
• Experience developing modern web applications using React and Next.js.
• Experience building serverless applications and event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
• Experience with TDD and quality-first engineering practices.
• Experience working in collaborative engineering environments utilizing pair programming.
