Job summary

SMBC Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Capital Markets technology team in the United States. You will build and maintain mission-critical software applications and tools, translating business requirements into technical specs for development and testing.

You will work with in-house and external applications, applying your domain knowledge of financial products and workflows while collaborating with business users and analysts to ensure solutions meet specifications.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of practical work experience in system architecture and software delivery.
• Proficient in C, Git, SQL; familiarity with C#/.NET; C++ is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of data transfer/processing protocols and industry standards like FIX/FPML.
• Capital Markets domain knowledge: OTC Swaps, Equities, Bonds; workflows like Clearing/Reporting.
• Excellent communication and teamwork; independent problem solving.
• Undergraduate CS or related engineering degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain software applications for the Capital Markets business.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and tests.

• Resolve incidents with tactical fixes, root cause analysis, and strategic solutions.
