Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Division, seeks a Software Engineer 2 with deep C#, .NET, and React expertise to design, develop, and maintain software across on‑prem, cloud, and hybrid environments.

The role requires collaboration with product managers, architects, and developers to translate business requirements into technical specs, contribute to scalable architectures, build APIs and front‑end components, and drive DevOps and CI/CD practices for automated

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years as a Software Engineer with hands-on C# and .NET.
• Experience with React or other modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Solid experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Proficiency in CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and automated deployments.
• Experience with Git, Scrum or Kanban, and other agile methodologies.
• Solid knowledge of microservices architecture and scalable APIs.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, algorithms, and data structures.
• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (SQL Server, MongoDB).
• Certification (Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, AWS Certified Developer) highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software solutions using C#, .NET, and React across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and developers to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Contribute to architectural design, ensuring scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Build APIs, microservices, and front‑end components, ensuring seamless integration.
• Work with cloud services (Azure, AWS) to design and deploy hybrid and cloud‑native solutions.
• Implement DevOps and CI/CD practices for automated deployments.
• Troubleshoot application performance, security, and availability issues.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain high code quality.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of emerging tech and integrate them into practices.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and cloud teams for stable, secure environments.
• Support transition of applications to cloud or hybrid architectures and governance and monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal security standards (SOX, PCI‑DSS, GDPR, etc.).
• Coordinate with cybersecurity for threat protection and define audit, risk, and disaster recovery processes.
• Lead QA processes adhering to ISO, GDPR, HIPAA, etc., and manage automated defect tracking.
