Job description

Akkodis is recruiting for a Linux/C++ Software Engineer in Skaneateles Falls, NY.

The hourly rate for this position is $60 - $70. The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

In this role, you will participate in the entire device lifecycle, including design, implementation, documentation, and testing for new and existing products.

Key Responsibilities of the Linux/C++ Software Engineer include:

1. Design and implement software components for new and existing devices, supporting the team with your technical expertise.
2. Contribute to scheduling and tasking to facilitate development, documentation, testing, and delivery of software items.
3. Apply strong software engineering principles to design and implement robust software architectures, adhering to team processes and methodologies to ensure quality.
4. Develop and debug software for a range of applications from simple bare-metal designs to complex medical device software.
5. Utilize modern C++, design patterns, object-oriented principles, unit testing, automated testing, and evaluation tools.
6. Participate in documenting software architecture, detailed designs, and testing protocols.
7. Research and develop new features to advance healthcare technology.

Requirements for the role include:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
2. 5+ years of experience in software engineering utilizing C/C++, preferably in a multi-process environment.
3. Experience developing software applications for Linux is strongly preferred.
4. Experience in highly regulated industries.
5. Understanding of cybersecurity concepts and medical device development experience are advantageous.

The ideal candidate will understand object-oriented design, design patterns, SOLID principles, and Test-Driven Development. They should be self-motivated, with excellent communication skills, customer-centric, collaborative, and decisive.
