American Airlines is seeking a software engineer to design, develop, and deploy large-scale solutions within the IT organization in Phoenix. You will write, test, and document code, mentor engineers, and collaborate with security and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable software that scales.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, focusing on performance, resiliency, and continuous improvement while adhering to Agile/SCRUM practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years designing, developing, and deploying large-scale production solutions.

Responsibilities

• Write, test, and document code and scripts per org standards.
• Solve technical problems and build impactful components/libraries.
• Deliver high-quality work and mentor junior engineers.
• Conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
• Design integrated systems enabling cross-functional delivery at scale.
• Manage technical debt and drive elimination initiatives.
• Anticipate scaling and latency challenges; guide teams in mitigation.
• Collaborate with security teams to implement secure development practices.
• Assess risks and implement prevention strategies.
• Evaluate squad delivery and push for improvements.
• Promote code reuse and reduce duplication across teams.
• Measure team performance and support individual development.
