Job summary

Empower is seeking a senior software engineer to join our growing team. You will design, develop, and maintain features in collaboration with the Director of Engineering and other engineers, focusing on scalable backend services and reliable APIs.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience, a CS degree, strong communication, and a passion for building software that disrupts a major brand. This role involves tight deadlines and occasional on-call support.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of development experience
• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science(relevant field)
• Proficiency with one of C#, Java, Javascript, Python, etc.
• Proficiency with a NoSQL or SQL database
• Experience building and consuming REST or RESTful APIs
• Experience with Azure, AWS or GCP
• Track record developing highly scalable, secure, production-grade backend services

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain new features in close collaboration with the Director of Engineering and other engineers
• Create reports, analyze data, and suggest improvements for business and technical needs
• Complete tasks under tight deadlines
• Lead less experienced developers
• Help improve the platform in performance, reliability, and maintainability
• In rare occasions, handle emergency situations during off-hours
