About The Job

Hopper’s Hotel Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) team is responsible for integrating our proprietary fintech offerings with major travel companies and our direct-to-consumer services. The role involves building scalable systems and fintech products, managing both B2C and B2B2C channels, and innovating to enhance customer and business value.

We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join our growing fintech team. You will design, implement, deploy, and operate complex backend systems supporting our integrations.

Daily Responsibilities

• Develop features using Scala and technologies like GCP, OpenAPI, BigQuery, Pub/Sub in an agile environment.
• Design core systems within our microservices architecture.
• Deliver initial code rapidly and iterate quickly.
• Collaborate with diverse teams, providing and receiving feedback.
• Drive significant opportunities to help Hopper lead the travel industry.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Experience with industry-leading techniques and technologies.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, performance, and maintainability.
• Proven ability to work across functions with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Frontend Engineers, etc.
• Focus on quality, writing scalable, testable code.
• Self-motivated, proactive, adaptable to evolving goals.
• Cloud experience and familiarity with Scala libraries.
• Travel or eCommerce experience is a plus.
• Interest in contributing to frontend development, especially React, is a bonus.
