Job summary

BRINC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own components of our scalable backend that powers worldwide real-time drone services. You will design, implement, and optimize cloud-oriented software, collaborating with hardware and autonomy teams to bring robust streaming and data visualization to non-technical users.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience shipping high-quality code and building robust infrastructure.
• Experience building backend platforms from infrastructure up to the API layer; real-time data platforms a plus.
• Experience with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and are comfortable switching between software engineering and Cloud DevOps.
• Familiarity with serverless architecture and tradeoffs between performance and cost at scale.
• Excellent attention to detail around scalability, performance, and security.

About this Role:

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will take ownership of key components of our software systems, contributing to the design, development, and optimization of our technology. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, leveraging your technical expertise to deliver high-quality, scalable software solutions. Key Responsibilities:

• Own the scalable backend platform that supports our worldwide real-time services

• Ensure our platform is secure, reliable, and performant

• Build our platform infrastructure and tooling

• Rapidly prototype new project ideas for customers and internal stakeholders

• Work with cross-functional hardware and autonomy teams to solve challenges like streaming and displaying live drone data for non-technical users in a variety of formats

Qualifications:

• A Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in computer science or a related field and 6+ years of experience shipping high-quality code and building robust infrastructure

• Experience building backend platforms, from the infrastructure up to the API layer (bonus if you’ve built real-time data platforms, scalable microservice architectures, and dealing with security & encryption requirements)

• Experience with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc) and are comfortable switching between software engineering and Cloud DevOps

• Familiarity with serverless architecture, and understand the tradeoffs between performance and cost when running servers at scale

• Excellent attention to detail, especially around scalability, performance, and security

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in the drone or robotics industry.

• Familiarity with machine learning, computer vision, or AI technologies.

• Experience with real-time systems or embedded software development.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

• Previous experience in mentoring or leading teams of engineers.

• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements.

• Ability to work independently and in a small team, take initiative, and communicate effectively.
