Job summary

RTX’s Collins Aerospace Embedded Platform Software Tools & Enablement team seeks a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain engineering tools, automation pipelines, and test infrastructure for avionics software.

You will collaborate across Systems, Software, Hardware/FPGA, and Verification teams to enable certifiable workflows and streamline DO‑178C compliant processes. This role emphasizes tooling reliability and scalable automation.

Qualifications

• Requires STEM degree and 5+ years experience or an advanced degree with 3+ years experience
• Experience building engineering tools or automation with Python and knowledge of C/C++
• Hands-on CI/CD experience (GitLab preferred) and Linux-based development
• Proficiency with Git or Subversion and experience using Jama and Jira
• Experience using or supporting build/test/data systems such as Make/CMake, MongoDB and Grafana

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain engineering tools and automation scripts for embedded software and workflows
• Implement data extraction/ transformation from Git, Subversion, Jama and Jira
• Automate documentation and DO‑178C traceability artifacts
• Support Linux- and container-based tooling environments
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and integrate tools into CI environments
• Build digital test harnesses and verification tools for simulators and hardware-adjacent environments
• Integrate tools with MongoDB, Grafana dashboards and internal dashboards
• Ensure tools support DO‑178C objectives and DO‑330 guidance
• Provide onboarding and best-practice guidance for tools and workflows
