Job summary

RTX Collins Aerospace in the United States is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Military Avionics Flight Management. You will work in an AGILE, cross-functional team to design, develop, and test FMS features integrated into aircraft systems.

The role requires 4+ years in software with C/C++, DOORS, ADA, and/or Python, plus a STEM degree. Domestic/international travel up to 10% may be required; relocation may be offered.

Senior Software Engineer – Military Avionics Flight Management

Teams are comprised of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-10 people) focused on the design and development of flight management software applications. CAAS/Flight 2 Flight Management Solutions - Our signature products for Military Avionics as part of the Collins Integrated Avionics System, fielded on thousands of aircraft today, at this moment. What You Will Do

• Work within a team of Systems and Software engineers to design, develop, and test software features for flight management systems that are integrated into military helicopters and planes
• Master your knowledge of Software Engineering and Flight Management Systems
• Integrate soft skills (leadership, communication, coordination, proactiveness) into a dynamic environment that provides quality and timely products to internal and external customers
• Travel (domestic and international <10%) as needed

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
• 4+ years of experience with C, C++, DOORS, ADA, and/or Python.
• 4+ years of experience in a Software role.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Industry Experience of Software Lifecycle Development (Design, Requirements, Integration, Test)
• Pilot/Avionics Experience (i.e. Private Pilot, Aircraft Maintenance, DO-178 Certification)
• Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance if needed after day 1.

Salary

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
