Job summary

Pyka is developing autonomous electric aircraft for cargo and crop protection, aiming to make flight safer, cheaper, and greener. We seek a Senior Software Engineer to own the Dropship and Cargo software, spanning path planning, engine control, sensor integration, and mission planning.

You will help shape software across the stack and collaborate with hardware and flight operations teams. You will write production-grade code in C++17 and Python, participate in flight tests, and mentor other

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience with C++ (ideally C++11 or newer).
• Proficiency in Python.
• Depth in at least one: path planning, controls, state estimation, sensor integration, or embedded and powertrain control.

Responsibilities

• Own the software for the Dropship and Cargo programs: collect requirements, define what the aircraft needs to do, build most of it, and specify the remainder for others to build.
• Delegate work and stay accountable for results.
• Break down ambiguous problems into plans and adapt as flight test data comes in.
• Write production-quality code in C++17 and Python across the aircraft stack, including testing and validation.
• Support flight testing directly: be present for tests and review flight data.
