Job summary

Penn Interactive is seeking a senior software engineer to design and scale authentication, identity verification, and regulatory-compliant systems. You’ll build high‑performance services and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver secure, scalable platforms for player signup, login, and communications.

You’ll own end‑to‑end features in a fast‑paced agile environment and mentor peers while improving system reliability and performance across the stack.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Solid CS foundation: data structures, distributed systems, algorithms.
• Production systems at scale; identify and fix performance bottlenecks.
• On-call rotations and end-to-end release ownership.
• Security and auditability in authentication/authorization.
• Strong written/verbal communication; tech specs & runbooks.
• Experience with modern web frameworks and API development.
• Relational databases: PostgreSQL and MySQL; normalization/denormalization.

Responsibilities

• Design, scale, and tune REST APIs, gRPC services, and SQL queries for registration/authentication, identity checks, fraud/AML, geolocation, and notifications.
• Own high-scope technical problems; draft proposals for leadership.
• Design, architect, and deliver end-to-end features in an agile environment.
• Identify bottlenecks and drive scalability improvements in production.
• Set up monitoring/alerting in Datadog.
• Mentor engineers and review code across teams.
