Job description

Pomelo Care is a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, engineers and problem solvers who are passionate about improving care for moms and babies. We are transforming outcomes for pregnant people and babies with evidence‑based pregnancy and newborn care at scale. Our technology‑driven care platform enables us to engage patients early, conduct individualized risk assessments for poor pregnancy outcomes, and deliver coordinated, personalized virtual care throughout pregnancy, NICU stays, and the first postpartum year. We measure ourselves by reductions in preterm births, NICU admissions, c‑sections and maternal mortality; we improve outcomes and reduce healthcare spend.

What you’ll do
  • Write clean, elegant code to ship new features and keep our platform humming
  • Lead the design and development of robust, scalable systems that enable our clinical team to deliver personalized, data‑driven care
  • Push the boundaries of our new AI‑powered tools, building agents that make clinicians drastically more efficient and effective
  • Enhance our mobile experience, ensuring parents and families feel connected and supported throughout their journey
  • Mentor other engineers, providing technical guidance and thoughtful code reviews, and generally fostering a culture of engineering excellence
  • Collaborate with product and clinical leadership to influence the technical roadmap and ensure we are tackling the most impactful problems
Who you are

You’re a seasoned, product‑mindful engineer who is comfortable with ambiguity and proactively identifies opportunities that have a big impact on the business. You would rather talk to a customer than be handed a spec and you have a proven ability to translate user needs into high‑quality technical solutions.

  • 5+ years of experience shipping high‑quality, scalable software systems
  • High level of proficiency in system and relational database design and one or more languages like Java, C#, Kotlin, Python, Go, etc.
  • Experience developing applications with modern front‑end frameworks like React or Vue.js
  • Passionate about staying on the cutting‑edge of agentic tooling to significantly accelerate delivery and amplify engineering impact
  • Track record of delivering elegant and maintainable solutions to complex problems that matter
We’ll be super excited if you
  • Have prior experience in AI/ML, natural language processing or building agent‑based systems
  • Have previously worked in a fast‑paced, product‑oriented environment
Benefits
  • Competitive healthcare benefits
  • Generous equity compensation
  • Unlimited vacation
  • Membership in the First Round Network (a curated and confidential community with events, guides, thousands of Q&A questions, and opportunities for 1‑1 mentorship)
