Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Knowledge & Innovation (K&I) team in New York. You will design, build, and operate production-grade software powering the firm's legal technology and AI initiatives, with a strong emphasis on reliability and scalable infrastructure.

You will own substantial system components, work with product and attorneys, and contribute to architectural decisions while maintaining high standards for security and maintainability.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with increasing scope.
• Strong full-stack skills: JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node.js, Python.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure) and IaC (Terraform/Bicep).
• Practical experience with AI/LLM integration in production systems.
• Experience with agentic coding tools (Claude Code/Cursor/Codex).
• Comfort working with non-technical stakeholders and demoing work.

Responsabilités

• Design, develop, and maintain custom software solutions supporting Knowledge & Innovation initiatives, including AI-powered tools and integrations with Firm systems.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, balancing speed, reliability, and maintainability.
• Build and extend integrations across SaaS platforms and data sources used in legal workflows.
• Develop frontend experiences with a design system and component libraries.
• Own and evolve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and IaC tooling.
• Establish observability with monitoring, logging, and alerting for production systems.
• Collaborate with product, data scientists, and attorneys to translate requirements into working software.
