Job summary

Symetra's AI Enablement team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I to deliver core capabilities and APIs for internal customers. You will build scalable services, contribute to design reviews, and mentor junior engineers while deploying in cloud environments (AWS or Google Cloud) using containers.

You will also craft lightweight interfaces and help advance testing, automation, and reliability across production systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience building production services and APIs.
• Cloud experience with AWS or Google Cloud; containers.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver secure, high-quality code and reusable services.
• Contribute to design: patterns and reviews; shape our architecture.
• Improve test automation, CI/CD, and delivery of code.
• Support security, performance, and reliability; root-cause analysis on production issues.
• Mentor junior engineers on the team.
