Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain ORTEC software across Windows and embedded platforms. You will architect service-oriented solutions using gRPC/REST, interface with ORTEC instrumentation, and drive AI-assisted development responsibly.

The role emphasizes Agile practices, secure coding (SSDF), and collaboration with product management, manufacturing, quality, and support. MS-based CI/CD pipelines and ITAR compliance are key facets of the position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE/EE/Nuclear Engineering or related field.
• Eight or more years of professional software development experience.
• US Person (citizen or green card holder) due to ITAR.
• Strong proficiency in C# and C++.
• Proficiency with Angular, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3 and modern web app dev.
• Experience building responsive, maintainable UIs for scientific/industrial software.
• Experience integrating front-end with REST and gRPC-based backends.
• Understanding of frontend architecture, state management, UI/UX best practices.
• Experience with Azure DevOps for source control, work items, build automation, CI/CD.
• Familiarity with SSDF, secure coding standards and cybersecurity.
• Understanding authentication, authorization, encryption, cert management, vulnerability remediation.
• Ability to use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) to boost productivity and evaluate AI output.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain Windows desktop and service-based applications.
• Design, develop, and maintain service-oriented and distributed software architectures using gRPC and REST APIs.
• Translate requirements into scalable, maintainable, and testable software solutions.
• Participate in architecture, design reviews, code reviews, and technical planning.
• Develop software interfacing with ORTEC instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
• Collaborate with product management, manufacturing, quality, and customer support.
• Apply Agile methodologies and software engineering best practices.
• Maintain technical requirements, design documentation, and test artifacts.
• Design, implement, and maintain Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, deployment, and quality initiatives.
• Apply SSDF principles and secure coding throughout the SDLC, including threat mitigation and dependency analysis.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Provide technical assistance to Manufacturing and Customer Service.
• Evaluate new technologies and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Use SVN, Git, TFS for configuration management.
• Engage in technical collaboration and communication.
