Job summary

OpenGov in Boston, MA seeks an experienced Sr. Software Engineer to build top-tier SaaS solutions that strengthen government transparency and accountability. You will lead feature delivery across frontend and backend using ReactJS, TypeScript, GraphQL, and NodeJS in a fast-paced, agile environment.

You will mentor engineers, drive scalable architectures, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align with customer outcomes and product strategy.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in developing highly scalable cloud-native applications using ReactJS, Typescript, GraphQL, and NodeJS.
• Deep experience building applications on Azure or AWS with modern CI/CD practices.
• Experience with Grafana for observability and performance monitoring.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, ReactJS, and NodeJS.
• Proficiency with event-driven architecture, API integration, and GraphQL.
• BA/BS in a computer science-related field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate across the organization to translate business priorities into shipped features delivering customer success.
• Generate clean, efficient, and well-documented software following industry best practices.
• Provide leadership and technical guidance to ensure the development of resilient, scalable SaaS applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Troubleshoot, debug and resolve complex technical issues.
• Mentor and guide junior software engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Contribute to OpenGov’s Engineering culture of innovation, leading-edge technology adoption and quality.
• Cultivate customer empathy to ensure that the solutions exceed customer expectations.
• Drive continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and operational excellence.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, advocating for their adoption where appropriate.
