Job summary

Zefr is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to own design, implementation, and operation of microservices in Kubernetes and cloud environments. You will build production systems powering Zefr's platform at scale and use AI for coding and research as a core part of how you work.

The role requires 5+ years in software engineering, deep experience with microservices, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure). Hybrid work: Marina del Rey 2 days, remote 3 days.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience in a related field.
• Hands-on experience designing, building, running, and operating microservices in Kubernetes and cloud environments (GCP/AWS/Azure).
• Proficiency using AI tools for coding and research as a daily productivity multiplier (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor).
• Strong foundation in distributed systems, API design, data structures, algorithms, and software design.
• Thorough testing and code review standards/practices.
• Self-starter who drives solutions with minimal direction.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Bonus: experience with LLMs and related tooling.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and implementation of microservices in Kubernetes and cloud environments.
• Design systems for scale, reliability, and high availability with operational health in mind.
• Use AI tools for coding and research as part of the development workflow.
• Collaborate with product, ML, and infrastructure teams to translate requirements into robust designs.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, reviews, and engineering standards.
• Mentor engineers and communicate technical direction to stakeholders.
