Job summary

Lumen is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to modernize data platforms using PySpark and Databricks, accelerating AI enablement and business innovation. In a high-trust, agile setting, you will help shape AI-ready connectivity for enterprise workloads.

You will work remotely from the US, contributing to scalable, high-performance data solutions and collaborating with product teams to deliver reliable, compliant results.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree (or 4+ years with a master’s) in Computer Science or related field.
• Strong experience with Databricks, PySpark, Apache Spark, Python, SQL, Azure Data Factory, ETL concepts, and distributed data processing.
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL, Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and building AI-ready data pipelines with governance.

Responsibilities

• Partner in an Agile Scrum team to design, develop, test, and support enterprise-grade systems.
• Migrate data warehouse capabilities to PySpark and Databricks; enable AI data workflows.
• Develop scalable, high-performance data solutions; meet reliability and SLA targets.
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to meet governance and compliance needs.
• Support AI enablement and automation efforts, including Databricks AI Genie when applicable.
• Build data pipelines using Databricks, PySpark, Python, SQL, Azure Data Factory, Java, Kafka, and Bash.
• Promote automated testing and quality through code reviews and best practices.
• Document work clearly to aid transparency and reuse; manage multiple projects.
