Job summary

Joby is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Test Infrastructure to automate electronics manufacturing tests in an aerospace production environment. You will manage a Python monorepo of microservices spanning test-execution, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) integrations, and CI/release tooling.

You will drive technical strategy and cross-team collaboration in turning ambiguous test requirements into deterministic automation. Location: San Carlos, CA.

Qualifications

• University degree in computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering and 7+ years full time industry experience.
• Experience operating electronics test equipment (multimeters, power supplies, data acquisition devices).
• Experience with networking, Modbus, I2C, and SCPI/VISA protocols and writing drivers for electronics test equipment.
• Expertise in Python, specifically with asyncio for high-concurrency hardware control and exposure to C/C++, Go, SQL.
• Demonstrable experience in software development for production test equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience designing and implementing test strategies to assess reliability of automation frameworks.
• Mature understanding of CI/CD and DevOps tools.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Python test software and HIL infrastructure for automation and certification of avionics systems.
• Design unique test stations and support for existing stations to keep production deterministic and FAA-compliant.
• Translate manual acceptance procedures into reliable automated software across software/hardware teams.
• Maintain schemas and ELT pipelines for mission-critical test results.
