Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Ad Tech based in the United States. The Senior Software Engineer, Ad Tech will help design and build a next-generation digital advertising platform supporting impactful healthcare experiences. This remote role focuses on developing scalable, high-performance backend systems, APIs, and cloud-native services using Python, AWS, and modern advertising technologies. You will contribute to architectural decisions, strengthen platform reliability, and deliver production-grade solutions across multiple technical domains. AI-assisted development and automation will be central to improving engineering efficiency, testing, and code quality. Working closely with Product, DevOps, and Security teams, you will help translate business needs into robust technical solutions. Accountabilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems and APIs deployed on AWS across multiple technical domains.
• Build scalable, high-performance, and highly available software solutions aligned with business requirements and modern engineering principles.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and implement clean, reusable, maintainable solutions across services.
• Ensure the stability, performance, reliability, and scalability of core platform services and APIs.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
• Conduct comprehensive code reviews, provide constructive technical feedback, and promote continuous improvements in code quality.
• Collaborate with Product, DevOps, Security, and other cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, secure, high-quality software.
• Mentor junior engineers and peers through technical guidance, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
• Use AI-powered development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot to accelerate coding, generate and maintain tests, automate repetitive tasks, and improve development productivity.
• Apply engineering best practices to cloud-native architecture, infrastructure automation, database performance, and search capabilities.
• Contribute to iterative product improvements by incorporating feedback, addressing technical challenges, and aligning solutions with customer and business needs.
• Support digital advertising platform integrations and help maintain technology that serves healthcare-related content and experiences.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of backend software engineering experience developing enterprise-grade applications.
• At least 4 years of experience building scalable, high-performance, highly available microservices.
• At least 4 years of experience designing cloud-native architectures and implementing infrastructure as code.
• At least 4 years of hands‑on experience with relational databases and writing optimized SQL queries.
• At least 2 years of experience with Google Ad Manager or another advertising server platform.
• At least 2 years of frontend development experience using JavaScript, TypeScript, and frameworks such as React or Angular.
• Advanced proficiency in Python 3, with expert-level knowledge required and evaluated through a coding assessment.
• Experience with Elasticsearch or other cloud-native search technologies.
• Practical experience using AI‑assisted development tools, such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot, to build production software and automate engineering workflows.
• Familiarity with observability and performance monitoring platforms, such as New Relic and Sentry, is preferred.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker, Amazon ECS, and Kubernetes, is an advantage.
• Understanding of cloud security concepts and protocols, including OAuth2, JWT, HMAC, encryption, hashing, and secrets management, is desirable.
• Knowledge of digital advertising ecosystems and platforms such as Google Ad Manager, Kevel, Sizmek, or DV360 is beneficial.
• Familiarity with healthcare compliance requirements, including HIPAA and protected health information (PHI), is a plus.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional stakeholders and incorporate customer feedback into iterative product development.
• Strong self‑motivation, ambition, resourcefulness, and creative problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and overcome challenges.
• Sound business judgment, resilience, clear communication, and a commitment to building trusted working relationships.
• Willingness to travel approximately 4-5 weeks per year.
