Senior Software Engineer (Rust, Data Platforms)

My client, an early-stage, venture-backed startup on a mission to revolutionize how developers work with data, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with extensive async Rust experience to join their small, high-impact engineering team.

They're building a next-generation data platform that breaks data out of silos and into the hands of every developer—not just data specialists. Think rich data-driven experiences, accessible APIs, and high-performance infrastructure that can power everything from automation to analytics.

What You’ll Be Working On

You’ll contribute across two key initiatives:

• An open-source framework to enable the next wave of developer-friendly data tooling.
• A hosting platform purpose-built for the framework, focused on performance, scalability, and user experience.

This is a high-autonomy role where you’ll ship production code, make critical architectural decisions, and help shape the engineering culture. From deep backend work to collaborating on the frontend or platform UX, you’ll be encouraged to work across the stack and influence every layer of the product.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven production experience with async Rust — this is the core of our backend stack.
• Strong architecture and design instincts.
• Experience building or scaling data systems or platforms.
• Ability to work autonomously and thrive in ambiguity.
• Proficiency in Typescript (Next.js experience is a bonus).
• Solid communication and collaboration skills—this is a remote-first team.
• Contributions to open-source projects (especially in Rust or the data ecosystem).
• Experience with Python, ClickHouse, or other modern data tools.
• Building pixel-perfect UIs or frontend developer tools.
• Familiarity with data engineering workflows or analytics pipelines.
