Job summary

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support a role in Melbourne, Florida. This position focuses on software development strategy and planning, ensuring alignment with DoD systems, software security, and cyber (IA) security requirements.

The successful candidate will have extensive DoD experience, lead engineering activities within ACAT I programs, and contribute to documentation, reviews, and program briefs while adhering to DoDI 5000.02 and related processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 20 years of DoD experience and an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Five years of these must be in a DoD acquisition program as a sub-system or system lead engineer within a recognized ACAT I (or equivalent) SAP office.
• Two (2) years of DoD SAP engineering experience prior to selection for employment under this contract.
• Knowledge of software engineering in support of design, development, test & evaluation, implementation, maintenance, and administration of software systems.

Responsibilities

• Review/update software engineering requirements and documentation.
• Support design, development, integration, and fielding of IFCs.
• Assist with DoDI 5000.02 documentation and airworthiness processes as prescribed.
• Support requirements development, allocation, and verification.
• Evaluate weapon system design, analyses, and verification reports.
• Prepare technical and business data for program briefs.
• Participate in program meetings and reviews as needed.

Job Description

HII Mission Technologies is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to support a position located at Melbourne, Florida. This individual will support the development of the software development strategy and Software Development Plan, applying their understanding of business/mission systems that support Program Office capabilities to as they relate to software engineering, software security, and cyber (IA) security.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Review/develop/update applicable program documentation for software engineering relevant requirements.
• Support the tasks required to design, develop, integrate, and field Integrated Functional Capabilities (IFCs).
• Support development and review of the full range of documentation and products required by DoDI 5000.02.
• Assist with execution of the USAF Airworthiness process per MIL-HDBK-516 and the AF Life-Cycle Systems Engineering (LCSE) and Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E) processes as prescribed by AFMCI 63-1201.
• Support implementation of Air Force Integrity Programs.
• Support requirements development, allocation, and verification.
• Support review and evaluation of weapon system design, analyses, and verification documentation and reports.
• Gather and develop technical and business data necessary to build and, as required, present program briefs.
• Support program meetings, working groups, and technical and business reviews as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Five (5) of these years must be in a DoD acquisition program as either a sub-system or system lead engineer within a recognized ACAT I (or equivalent) special access program office.

• Knowledge of software engineering in support of the design, development, Test and Evaluation (T&E), implementation, maintenance, and administration of new and/or existing software systems.
