Job summary

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, seeks a Senior Software Engineer in Melbourne, Florida to guide software strategy and planning for DoD programs, aligning engineering work with mission needs while integrating software security and cyber (IA) considerations.

The role demands 20+ years of DoD experience, an ABET‑accredited engineering degree, and DoD SAP/ACAT I exposure; TS/SCI security is strongly valued. This is a high-impact defense technology role.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 20 years of relevant DoD experience and an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Five of these years in a DoD acquisition program as a sub-system or system lead engineer within an ACAT I or equivalent.
• Two years of DoD SAP engineering experience prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Review and develop software engineering requirements and documentation.
• Design, develop, integrate, and field Integrated Functional Capabilities (IFCs).
• Support Airworthiness processes and DoDI 5000.02 documentation and reviews.

Job Description

HII Mission Technologies is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to support a position located at Melbourne, Florida. This individual will s upport the development of the software development strategy and Software Development Plan, a pplying their understanding of business/mission systems that support Program Office capabilities to as they relate to software engineering, software security, and cyber (IA) security.

• Review/develop/update applicable program documentation for software engineering relevant requirements.
• Support the tasks required to design, develop, integrate, and field Integrated Functional Capabilities (IFCs).
• Support development and review of the full range of documentation and products required by DoDI 5000.02.
• Assist with execution of the USAF Airworthiness process per MIL-HDBK-516 and the AF Life-Cycle Systems Engineering (LCSE) and Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E) processes as prescribed by AFMCI 63-1201.
• Support implementation of Air Force Integrity Programs.
• Support requirements development, allocation, and verification.
• Support review and evaluation of weapon system design, analyses, and verification documentation and reports.
• Gather and develop technical and business data necessary to build and, as required, present program briefs.
• Support program meetings, working groups, and technical and business reviews as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 20 years of relevant DoD experience and an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Five (5) of these years must be in a DoD acquisition program as either a sub-system or system lead engineer within a recognized ACAT I (or equivalent) special access program office.
• Two (2) years of DoD SAP engineering experience prior to selection for employment under this contract.
• Knowledge of software engineering in support of the design, development, Test and Evaluation (T&E), implementation, maintenance, and administration of new and/or existing software systems.
