Senior Software Engineer – Embedded Medical Devices

We’re partnering with an innovative medical device engineering organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead embedded software development across complex, life-changing medical technologies.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you’ll work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and clients to take software from requirements and architecture through development, testing, and integration.
What You’ll Do
- Lead embedded software development across the full software development lifecycle
- Define and allocate software requirements in collaboration with clients and cross-functional engineering teams
- Develop software architecture and make key decisions around functionality, performance, cost, maintainability, safety, and security
- Lead small software engineering teams through planning, delegation, execution, and delivery
- Design, implement, test, and integrate production-quality software
- Own technical quality across architecture, code, design, and software artifacts
- Mentor engineers and contribute to process improvements and internal software libraries
- Ensure software development aligns with FDA regulations and IEC 62304
What You Bring
- BS, MS, or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 5–9+ years of embedded software development experience, ideally within medical devices or another regulated industry
- Experience leading small software engineering teams
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients and cross-functional teams
- Significant experience with embedded Linux, SoMs, Yocto Project/BSP, and driver configuration
- Expert-level experience with C++, C#, and/or C, including multithreading and multiprocessing
- Strong software architecture, design, and testing experience across unit, integration, and system levels
- Experience with GUI development and frameworks such as Qt/QML is highly desirable
- Experience with microcontrollers, RTOS environments such as ThreadX, and device driver development
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with FDA-regulated software development and IEC 62304
