Job summary

KBR, Inc in the National Security Solutions group seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, modernize, and maintain enterprise software platforms supporting DoD programs and critical Air Force missions.

You'll build RESTful services and Angular/TypeScript frontends, work with SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL databases, and contribute to cloud-enabled modernization efforts across the full SDLC with cross‑functional teams.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience in enterprise environments.
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and service integrations.
  • Strong proficiency with C#, .NET Core/.NET Framework.
  • Experience building enterprise web applications using Angular and TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Redis.
  • Understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to support critical Air Force and DoD information technology programs. The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader responsible for designing, developing, modernizing, and maintaining enterprise applications and mission-critical software platforms while supporting operational mission objectives. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full software development lifecycle while collaborating with cross‑functional engineering and program teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise web applications and distributed software systems.
  • Architect, develop, and support RESTful APIs and service‑oriented solutions for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build modern, responsive user interfaces using Angular, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, and related frontend technologies.
  • Lead technical design and software architecture initiatives utilizing object‑oriented programming principles and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Program Managers, Product Owners, Architects, and Engineering teams to deliver high‑quality software solutions.
  • Support migration and modernization efforts involving legacy applications, cloud‑based platforms, and emerging technologies.
  • Design, optimise, and maintain database solutions utilizing SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Redis, and related technologies.
  • Participate in code reviews, unit testing, debugging, deployment, and production support activities.
  • Develop technical documentation, architectural diagrams, interface specifications, and software lifecycle artefacts.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including AI‑assisted capabilities, automation tools, and integration frameworks.
  • Analyse application performance and implement improvements to enhance reliability, scalability, maintainability, and user experience.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience supporting enterprise technology environments.
  • Strong proficiency in C#, .NET Core, .NET Framework, and object‑oriented software development.
  • Experience developing enterprise web applications using Angular and TypeScript.
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and service integrations.
  • Strong experience with SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or similar relational database platforms.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and Agile development practices.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

  • Experience with cloud‑based application development and integrations.
  • Experience modernising legacy software platforms and implementing scalable architectural solutions.
  • Experience with AI‑enabled technologies, proof‑of‑concept development, or automation initiatives.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
