Job summary

Audiohook is a fully remote, fast-growing company building a high-performance advertising platform. The Senior Software Engineer will architect and optimize services, applying machine learning and big data to boost profitability and scale for Audiohook’s core business.

You will own data pipelines, maintain data integrity, and reduce costs while pushing for rapid delivery and continuous improvement through demos and code reviews.

Qualifications

• Expert-level mastery of Python, Go, or Node.js with strong Python fluency.
• Ownership of product-level architecture, projects and tasks.
• Collaborative with pair programming, code reviews, and cross-team discussions.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize a performance-based advertising service handling billions of requests daily.
• Improve bidding algorithms using ML to increase profitability.
• Architect data pipelines for big data workloads and maintain data integrity between data lake and caches.
• Reduce data processing costs by optimizing resource use within defined timelines.
• Present progress and demos in standups and participate in live code reviews.
• Lead monthly Dev Tricks and Lunch and Learn sessions.

Job description

Role Overview
The Senior Software Engineer will architect, build, and optimize the high-performance advertising platform, leveraging machine learning and big data to drive significant profitability, efficiency, and scale for Audiohook's core business.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and optimize a performance-based advertising service capable of servicing 10B requests per day.


• Optimize bidding algorithms using machine learning models to increase profitability by 20% within 3 months of hiring.


• Architect data pipelines capable of handling big data workloads.


• Maintain data integrity between the data lake and reporting caches.


• Reduce data processing costs by 10% within 6 months of hiring.


• Complete 10-12 story points per week.


• Present progress and demos in company Standup meetings twice a week.


• Participate in live team code reviews.


• Lead monthly \"Dev Tricks\" and \"Lunch and Learn\" presentations.


• Other duties as assigned by supervisor of management.

Qualifications

• Expert-level mastery of Python, Go, or Node.js. Able to work in Python


• Takes ownership over product level architecture, projects and personal tasks


• Collaborative - (Pair programming, white boarding, code reviews, product and business discussions)


• Present and involved in daily discussions


• Comfortable with taking calculated risks


• Understands trade offs between short term profitability and long term stability

Additional Requirements

• If remote, willing to travel to Utah up to 1 week per month for in-office collaborative work.


• Understands the strengths and pitfalls of AI Agents and frequently uses them to collaborate on, review and write code.
