Job summary

Zoom is seeking a senior backend software engineer to own and develop scalable APIs and infrastructure. You will design data models, build robust services, and ensure reliability across the system stack, including ML components.

You will work with AWS, Postgres on RDS, ClickHouse, and Node.js, with some React frontend collaboration, and contribute to high-impact projects in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• 6+ years of software engineering experience.
• Comfort with AWS, Postgres, and Node.js.
• Experience with TypeGraphQL, Apollo/Express, and Postgres on RDS.
• Familiarity with React frontend and cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Write well-designed, testable code for scalable, reliable systems.

You help keep Common Room's core infrastructure ahead of the product's needs, while contributing to key company-building initiatives.

About the Team

Common Room is the AI GTM Platform that empowers teams with AI agents built on complete buyer intelligence. We unify every signal across the full buyer journey into one continuously-updated, person-level view. This allows your team to know exactly who to target and why, what to say, and when to reach out.

GTM teams are navigating tool sprawl, fragmented data, and AI that doesn't deliver. Common Room replaces disconnected stacks with one platform built for scale and complexity. This brings together data, orchestration, and execution in one system built for organizations of 75–1000+.

Responsibilities

• Developing infrastructure, data models, features, and the overall system to build APIs, and maintain the codebase to resolve customer issues.
• Writing well-designed, testable code, ensuring systems are efficient, optimized, scalable, and reliable.
• Developing software testing and validation procedures and documentation.
• Ensuring Common Room's core internal capabilities, infrastructure, and ML systems serve the needs of customers and our team.
• Analyzing, problem-solve, and design systems and simple, elegant solutions while considering observability, SLA, and scalability.

What we’re looking for

• 6+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Hold a Bachelor's or equivalent experience.
• Be comfortable working with AWS, Postgres, and Node.js.
• Able to use TypeGraphQL for our API endpoints, Apollo/Express as our web server, and Postgres(hosted on RDS) + ClickHouse as our database. We use React for front-end, and AWS for our infrastructure needs.
• Able to take pride in the craft and is excited to own large projects, primarily in the backend domain.
• Communicate effectively with experienced engineers, including application and front-end engineers.
• Demonstrate a good judgement on tradeoffs and tooling, avoiding over-indexing on trendy technology — preferring supported, stable solutions.
• Use customer problems as input into system design, finding joy in creating simple, elegant solutions.

Salary Range or On Target Earnings:

Minimum: $98,900.00

Maximum: $228,700.00

In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration; base salary, bonus and equity value.

Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.

We also have a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in this and other locations
