Job summary

Job description

mogul is seeking a sharp, product-minded developer to build and scale the first of its kind residential platform that's changing how people invest in real estate. You will own features and architectural decisions across the stack. This includes working on real estate acquisitions, property launches, investor platform, communications across demand channels, investor distributions, asset management, and a novel tax generation engine. It will be up to you to solve challenges that have been previously declared “impossible” through creative automations and collaboration. You'll report directly to the CTO and build the enterprise level infrastructure behind a growing portfolio of residential assets.

You’ll be working across our modern TypeScript stack, including Next.js, NestJS, Docker, and MongoDB to bridge the gap between acquisition data and operational execution. We care deeply about shipping fast, maintaining quality, and automating every manual step in the property lifecycle.

What's non-negotiable is a deep sense of ownership, a desire to build robust supply-side infrastructure, and the ability to execute with minimal hand-holding in close partnership with our Supply and Operations teams.

Location: This role is based in our New York City office. You must be located in, or willing to relocate to, NYC and able to work in person from our NYC office.

What you'll do

• Report directly to the CTO
• Build and maintain core features across the Next.js frontend and NestJS backend
• Write clear and maintainable TypeScript code
• Contribute to infrastructure decisions as we scale on Docker
• Review pull requests, write technical specs, and shape the engineering culture at mogul
• Collaborate closely with the Operations team to organize and execute a scalable engine, replacing manual workflows with automated systems
• Improve developer workflows and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and best practices
• Debug performance issues, handle incidents, and keep our platform resilient
• Help shape product decisions with data and rapid iteration

Required Skills and Technology

• Proficiency in TypeScript, both on the frontend and backend
• Experience building scalable, production-grade apps with Next.js and NestJS
• Working knowledge of Docker and containerized deployments
• GitHub workflows and code reviews
• Strong fundamentals in software engineering and API design
• Ability to learn quickly, prioritize ruthlessly, and work independently
• Comfort balancing speed and quality in a startup environment
• 3+ years full stack experience
