We're partnering with a fast-growing consumer AI startup in New York City that is building an entirely new way for people to discover, shop, and interact with fashion online.
The product combines generative AI, personalization, computer vision, and consumer social experiences to create a highly personalized shopping experience. The platform is already operating at meaningful scale, processing millions of images and integrating data from thousands of brands.
The team is small, highly technical, and moving quickly. They're looking for exceptional software engineers who want significant ownership and the opportunity to build products used directly by consumers.
What you'll work on:
You'll own major parts of the product and infrastructure end-to-end, with projects potentially spanning:
- Building AI-powered consumer experiences across shopping, personalization, recommendations, and virtual try-on
- Developing scalable backend systems capable of supporting rapidly growing traffic and image-processing workloads
- Building and improving data pipelines that ingest and normalize product information across thousands of brands
- Developing polished, highly interactive web experiences using React, Next.js, and TypeScript
- Integrating LLMs, multimodal models, and other AI systems into production applications
- Improving performance, reliability, experimentation, and observability as the product scales
- Working directly with the founders and users to rapidly ship and iterate on new product ideas
This is not a narrowly defined frontend, backend, or ML role. You'll work wherever the most important technical and product problems are.
What we're looking for:
We're especially interested in engineers who have:
- 2-5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience shipping production applications
- Experience with modern full-stack development, ideally React, Next.js, TypeScript, Python, or similar technologies
- Built data-intensive, AI-powered, or high-scale consumer products
- Experience with LLMs, generative AI, recommendation systems, computer vision, ML infrastructure, or AI agents is a major plus
- Strong product instincts and an appreciation for polished consumer experiences
- Comfort working across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and data when necessary
- A track record of taking ambiguous problems and independently turning them into shipped products
- Experience in a high-performing product engineering environment or early-stage startup
You'll probably love this role if...
- You like building rather than maintaining.
- You want to work on AI that is actually embedded in a consumer product, not an internal proof of concept.
- You enjoy difficult engineering problems, but also care deeply about what the end user sees and experiences.
- And you want to join a small team where an individual engineer can have an outsized impact on the product and company.
- You'll be joining a small engineering team at an inflection point: the product has real traction, the technical problems are getting significantly harder, and there's still an enormous amount left to build.
- You'll have direct access to the founders, significant ownership from day one, and the opportunity to help define how AI changes one of the world's largest consumer categories.
