Job summary

Vortex Systems LLC in Connecticut is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in LabVIEW to lead the development and integration of advanced aerospace test equipment across development, production, and repair operations.

You will design, implement, and validate automated test systems using LabVIEW, VeriSTAND, TestStand, and NI hardware platforms (PXI, cRIO, DAQ), ensuring traceability and compliance with AS9100 standards.

Qualifications

• Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA) or Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) required.
• B.S. or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
• 5+ years designing automated test systems using LabVIEW and NI hardware.
• Strong understanding of signal processing and electromechanical systems.
• Experience in hardware-in-the-loop or system-in-the-loop testing.
• Excellent documentation and configuration-control discipline.
• Ability to pass a background check; willingness to travel domestically/internationally.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and deploy software for automated test systems and subassemblies.
• Integrate LabVIEW models with SolidWorks mechanical systems.
• Develop modular, reusable code with object-oriented LabVIEW and version control.
• Design and execute validation plans for test benches with calibration standards.
• Interface with design, production, and repair teams to translate requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians in LabVIEW and data acquisition.
• Document processes according to Vortex Process Manuals.

Vortex is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in LabVIEW to lead the development and integration of advanced aerospace test equipment across development, production, and repair operations. The candidate will design, implement, and validate automated test systems using LabVIEW, VeriSTAND, TestStand, and NI hardware platforms (PXI, cRIO, DAQ)—ensuring traceability, calibration integrity, and compliance with AS9100 standards.

The ideal candidate holds Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA) or Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) credentials and thrives in environments bridging hardware, software, and quality-critical testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and deploy software for automated test systems and subassemblies.
• Integrate LabVIEW models with SolidWorks-based mechanical systems
• Develop modular, reusable code using object-oriented LabVIEW design and version control (Git/Microsoft DevOps).
• Design and execute validation plans for test benches, ensuring adherence to calibration standards and quality control protocols.
• Interface with design, production, and repair teams to translate engineering requirements into executable test sequences.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians on LabVIEW fundamentals, data acquisition, and software lifecycle management.
• Document all processes in accordance with Vortex’s Process Manuals

Required Qualifications

• Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA) or Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD).
• B.S. or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or relevant field
• 5+ years of experience designing automated test systems using LabVIEW and NI hardware (PXI, DAQ, cRIO).
• Strong understanding of signal processing, instrumentation, and electromechanical systems.
• Demonstrated experience in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or system-in-the-loop (SIL) testing.
• Excellent documentation and configuration control discipline.
• Ability to pass a background check
• Occasional travel both domestic and international
• U.S. Citizenship (for ITAR compliance).

Preferred Skills

• Experience with LabVIEW RT/FPGA, NI TestStand, SystemLink, or VeriStand.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink integration
• Familiarity with AS9100/ISO 9001 quality frameworks
• Proficient in Visio and Microsoft Office
