JSI USA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Software Engineer for our Chantilly, Virginia office. This customer-facing role leverages deep technical expertise to solve complex problems and mentor team members. This role requires a strong understanding of software engineering principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for building high-quality, scalable software. We are looking for an engineer who is forward thinking about leveraging AI Tools to accelerate software delivery and optimize codebases.

POSITION SUMMARY

• Collaborate with and across teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions in full-stack development tools and technologies.
• Coordinate with requirements management resources to define and deliver robust solutions that drive powerful experiences to help our customers gain data driven insights.
• Work with internal stakeholders and customers to identify and resolve complex technical challenges.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and knowledge sharing to software engineers and cross-functional teams.
• Ensure and enforce software engineering best practices while driving continuous improvement in internal development processes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, plus a minimum 4 years of experience in technical leadership accomplishing high level tasks (e.g. Production Systems, Projects Owned, Technologies Mastered, Problem Solving, System Design, and Measurable Impact) as well as experience interfacing with external customers.
• Minimum 7 years development experience: extensive application development experience, and software engineering and architecture expertise using multiple program languages (e.g., C, C++, C#, ASP.Net, Java, JavaScript, SQL, jQuery, XML, Perl, YAML, and JSON). Strong proficiency with Restful API, Scripting languages (e.g. Perl, Powershell, Python etc.).
• US Citizenship with a Secret clearance and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers and internal teams.
• Proven ability to manage customer-facing projects, project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables while demonstrating adaptability and resourcefulness
• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small, collaborative team.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements.
• Leverage AI-powered coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to maximize productivity, streamline code reviews, and reduce technical debt.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10% or as needed by the customer project.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Contribute as a full stack developer, writing clean and maintainable code, and applying agile practices.
• Professional certifications in project management or agile software development.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI coding assistants to write, refactor, and test code.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies (e.g. Azure, AWS)
• Minimum 4 years of experience in technical consulting to Federal customers.
• Experience supporting law enforcement, military, or intelligence community customers is a plus.
• Experience authoring or contributing to company intellectual capital.

WORK MODEL

This position is currently a hybrid model where your work week is divided between in-office and remote work in accordance with the office policy and customer requirements. In this role, you will provide technical expertise to our internal teams and customers which may require performing duties at a customer facility or other designated location. Some travel may be required to support the customer.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $95,000 – $190,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the seniority level (junior, intermediate or senior) at which the position is filled, education, relevant work experience, industry experience, technical skills, certifications, and internal equity.

The posted salary range reflects the Company’s good faith estimate at the time of posting and may be modified as business needs or market conditions change. Additional compensation in the form of discretionary bonuses may be available.
