Job summary

RTX BBN Technologies in Cambridge, MA is seeking an experienced SW engineer to join our Physical Sciences and Systems group, focusing on embedded software generation, testing, and research in C++, C, and Linux.

You will work with a broad range of government agencies on challenging problems, design advanced algorithms, and prototype system architectures. Occasional travel and onsite collaboration are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field with 5 years of experience, or a Master’s with 3 years, or PhD.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government security clearance is required and US citizenship is necessary.
  • Experience in software design, simulation, analysis, and implementation.
  • Experience programming in C++ in a Linux development environment.

The following position is to join our BBN Technologies team:

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced SW engineer to join our Physical Sciences and Systems group in Cambridge, Massachusetts. You will join a project team designing, analyzing, and prototyping innovative multi-domain system architectures. You will contribute to an environment focused on embedded software generation, testing, and research with a focus in C++, C, and Linux. Our world-class team works with a broad range of Government agencies to solve problems that are both technically challenging and have a real operational impact.

What You Will Do:

Examples of the types of challenging problems we work on include:

  • Developing and implementing sophisticated detection, classification, localization, and tracking (DCLT) algorithms against state-of-the-art threats in high-noise environments
  • Designing and implementing complex software to optimize sensor system performance
  • Designing and implementing software for the guidance and control of autonomous vehicles
  • Supporting real time evaluation of designs in realistic mission scenarios and operational analysis
  • Optimizing algorithm designs for highest performance
  • The candidate should be able to plan/direct/coordinate tasks or small projects involving multiple individuals. The candidate will participate in business development by contributing to proposals and white papers, and making effective presentations to our customers. This position may require some amount of overnight travel to support limited off-site testing.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in an applicable discipline (i.e., Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field) and 5 years of relevant professional work experience, or a master’s degree in the disciplines above plus 3 years’ experience, or a PhD
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Prior experience in software design, simulation, analysis, and implementation
  • Prior experience programming in C++ or another modern object-oriented language in the Linux development environment
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and Bash
  • Experience with Linux development tools such as git, Valgrind, and gdb
  • Exposure to development libraries like Google FlatBuffers, Armadillo, and REST API
  • Experience with multithreaded applications, inter-process communication, and resource sharing
  • Development experience in systems with real-time processing requirements

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
