Job summary

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to rapidly onboard and contribute to the User Directory product. You will integrate with AD, LDAP, Entra ID, GDS, and other providers, building UI, backend, and test automation end-to-end.

You will work with a self-sufficient, collaborative team to design robust software, stay current with technologies, and contribute to larger features across teams.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience as a software developer on agile teams.
• 4+ years of cloud or enterprise application development experience.
• Experience with source control tools such as GIT or Bitbucket.
• Strong C# programming skills and ability to write robust, maintainable code.
• 2+ years building modern web frontends with ReactJS, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML and CSS, plus REST API integration.
• Experience with identity providers (Active Directory, LDAP, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Directory Service).
• Knowledge of PKI, encryption, and HTTPS; strong debugging and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Understand customer scenarios to design innovative solutions for the User Directory product.
• Build and maintain integrations with identity sources (AD, LDAP, Entra ID, GDS) and external providers.
• Design, implement, and own features end-to-end across frontend, backend, and tests.
• Collaborate with engineers, product management, and designers to deliver quality user experiences.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you are expected to quickly onboard and help build and maintain the User Directory product, which includes integrations into Active Directory, LDAP, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Directory Service (GDS), and other external Identity Providers for user information. You need to be self‑organized and self‑sufficient enough to work with minimum mentoring and supervision. Understand customer scenarios and requirements to validate the best solution. Design and develop high‑quality software and own product features end to end, including UI/frontend, backend, and test automation. Continuously raise the bar for development practices, stay abreast of the latest technologies both in the company and the industry, and be able to utilize them to good effect. You will also spend time collaborating closely with other engineers on larger features.

Responsibilities

• Understand customer scenarios and requirements to suggest and develop innovative technical solutions and tools in the User Directory product.
• Build and maintain integrations across identity sources such as Active Directory, LDAP, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Directory Service (GDS), and other external Identity Providers.
• Design, build, and own features end to end across the frontend, backend services, and automated tests, delivering a polished and reliable user experience.
• Facilitate collaboration with the engineering team, product management, and designers. You need to be self‑organized and self‑sufficient enough to work with minimum mentoring and supervision.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science
• 5+ years of experience working as a software developer on agile teams
• At least 4+ years of experience in cloud development or enterprise applications
• Experience using source code management tools such as GIT, Bitbucket
• C# expertise - the ability to get up and running with little to no guidance on how to write C# applications
• 2+ years of experience building modern web frontends / full‑stack with ReactJS, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS, including component‑based UI development and integrating with backend REST APIs
• Experience with Active Directory, LDAP, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Directory Service (GDS), MFA, IaaS, IAM, Authentication and authorization
• Experience working with AI agents
• Strong object‑oriented design and coding skills and experience writing reusable, generic APIs
• Understanding of PKI, Certificate security, encryption, HTTPS
• Strong programming, debugging, and troubleshooting skillsStrong written and oral communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team, across teams, and with management and other disciplines
• Strong team player - collaborative, dependable, and invested in the team's success

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non‑sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/com‑missioned roles) is expected to be the annual range listed below.
