Kingland seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join our mission-critical teams in Ames, IA, delivering secure, scalable enterprise software for data and risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• At least 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Cloud-based infrastructures experience and backend development.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary engineering expert and mentor other engineers.
• Designs with Architects following industry-standard patterns.
• Develop secure, performant Kingland Platform components.
• Collaborate in Agile teams delivering working software in short iterations.
• Improve engineering principles for quality and velocity.
• Leverage automated builds and tests for integration tests.
• Identify, fix and communicate defects throughout development process.
• Collaborate with teammates and clients from requirements to deployment.
• Assist with onboarding new engineers and maintaining team routines.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES |Senior Software Engineer

• Serve as a primary engineering expertise on the project, providing guidance on engineering principles and mentoring other engineers on the team
• Work with Architects to create designs that follow industry standard software design patterns and best practices
• Develop highly secure, performant and maintainable code based on software designs for Kingland Platform solutions
• Actively participate in an Agile development process, collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams, delivering working software in short iterations, and adapting to changing requirements through frequent feedback loops, all while utilizing Agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban to ensure efficient project delivery
• Continually improve engineering principles to ensure the engineering team delivers with quality and velocity
• Leverage automated build and deploy processes to create and execute integration tests
• Identify, fix and communicate defects throughout the software engineering process
• Collaborate with teammates and clients, from requirements review and design to implementation, testing, deployment and triage
• Assist with onboarding new engineers and maintaining engineering routines within the team

POSITION REQUIREMENTS |Senior Software Engineer

• Bachelor’s degree and requisite experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering is required
• A minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience, preferably in Cloud‑based infrastructures
• Enterprise software development using Go, Java, C# or other backend programming languages
• Database development and maintenance using SQL on Postgres or other similar relational databases
• Knowledge of key engineering principles such as clean code, api‑first development, and devsecops
• Strong organization and leadership skills
