Job Description

This is a remote position.

Mission:

Drive the technology and architectural strategy at a client and project level

Be a specialist in bluetooth connectivity and mobile apps

Drive innovation within mobile, bluetooth and associated test automation

Represent Orthogonal well in sales and client-facing capacities with system and technical knowledge

Serve as technical point-of-contact and bridge communication between engineering team, product managers, and stakeholders

Independently estimate and architect systems accurately

Requirements

Requirements for the role:

Extensive experience developing and maintaining mobile apps built using either React Native or Flutter

Native app development, iOS/Swift and/or Android/Kotlin is desirable

Bonus: Experience with mobile specific feature implementation (camera, NFC, GPS, accelerometer, biometrics, background services, push notifications, etc.)

App Management: ability to publish to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store while maintaining compliance within app store policies

Extensive experience interfacing with bluetooth devices, including: multiple pairing/bonding strategies and complex interactions with devices

Familiarity with bluetooth embedded development (prototyping and hobby development is acceptable)

Experience with mobile app test automation (bonus for experience with test automation for bluetooth functionality)

Extensive experience architecting and designing solutions that include a mobile app - architecting experience should include working with product owners and stakeholders, scope definition and effort estimation (including scope with cloud back-end and APIs)

Experience with Cybersecurity - Zero Trust, Authentication, RBAC/ABAC, app level encryption

Extensive experience leading teams of engineers, including:

Planning, scheduling, monitoring and correcting team activities

Responsible for performance and quality of work

Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) - Unit, integration and end-to-end functional testing

Experience with AI tools to help development

Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies

Preferences (Desired, but not required):

Web application development, specifically ReactJS via NextJS or Vite

Shared resource, scalable, multi-environment, multi-tenant architecture

Infrastructure-as-code

Monitoring and logging systems (AWS CloudWatch, Azure Application Insights, NewRelic)

Cloud security and best practices

GraphQL

Previous development experience with medical device software under design controls within an ISO 13485 Quality Management System and/or experience with HIPAA.

Interest in healthcare and delivering quality products that improve patient outcomes

Familiarity with any part of day-to-day tool stack: Jira, Confluence, Slack, GitHub, Lucidchart, Postman

Annual salary range: $120,000-$200,000
